Introduction:
The Chess Beanie is designed in two versions: a classic version and a Fisherman’s version. Both are knitted with one strand of Yak from Tante Grøn, giving them a light and airy look. The classic version is a simple beanie that just covers the ears, while the Fisherman’s version is designed to fit on top of the ears. The Chess Beanie is knitted from the bottom up, from the rib edge to the top of the hat. The stitches are casted on with Italian cast-on (or a regular cast-on method for the Fisherman’s version), after which a nice, tight rib edge is knitted, which is folded up at the end. From here, the hat is knitted in a checkered pattern that gives a graphic and simple expression. The top of the hat is shaped using decreases that maintain the integrity of the checkered pattern.
